How “Green” Is Your Hot Water?

0

No, we’re not talking about the color of your hot water – although green water could indicate a problem. We’re talking about how your water is heated and about how much water and energy you could be conserving by switching to a tankless water heater (instant water heater).

Pittsburgh tankless water heaters can save water and energy. They also (because of this savings) can reduce your utility bills. And, they can cost less to install and operate than a traditional water heater.

Whether you are using an electric or a gas water heater, you are actually heating the amount of water held in your tank again and again to maintain a constant temperature. Depending upon the amount of hot water you use and when you use it, you could be spending quite a chunk of change to keep water hot for extended periods when you don’t need it.

For example, say you don’t cook (so you only run the dishwasher once a week), you don’t have a washing machine in your home, and you prefer to shower in the morning. You need hot water in the morning and on the day you run the dishwasher. If you use a traditional hot water heater, with a capacity of 50 gallons, you will be heating 50 gallons of water to the predetermined temperature and then continuing to heat it enough to keep it at that temperature twenty-four hours every day. If you only use 30 gallons of hot water when you shower, you are heating 30 gallons for an extra 23 hours and 20 gallons for an extra 24 hours every day. If you used a tankless water heater, you would only heat the 30 gallons you need for your shower as you need it. Over the course of a year, this savings in energy could add up to a noticeable savings in your gas or electric bill.

Because tankless water heaters provide hot water by heating the water as it passes over a heating element, you only heat the amount of water you actually use. And, you don’t have to stand around waiting for the hot water to travel through the pipes from the hot water tank to the faucet you are using, which also saves water.

Tankless water heaters are becoming very popular because they are energy-efficient and because they conserve water. If you want to reduce your monthly utility bills and protect the environment, you can “green up” your water use by installing tankless water heaters in key parts of your Poway home.

Testimonials

I really like working with Twin Plumbing Poway. They have taken good care of my plumbing problems at this rental property and I will be using them for my home, too, from now on.
Barbara T.Scripps Ranch, San Diego, CA
I want to let you know what a great help Twin Plumbing Poway was. They took a lot of time to explain what they were doing and why they were doing it. They did a great job and I felt like I had made new friends when they were done. It’s hard to find help like that these days. I will be calling them again for other work soon.
Bill M.Poway, CA
Twin Plumbing Poway is a great company. Three different plumbers said they would come to my home. None of them did. I was without hot water for three days. I called Twin Plumbing Poway and they came within an hour. And they fixed my problem for far less than the other plumbing companies had said they would charge. I am recommending them to be put in my church directory of reliable contractors.

Ricky was awesome. He took care of my problem and he even looked at my heating unit and explained what was wrong with it to me so that I would know what to say to the HVAC technician when he called.

I want to thank you for the very fast, professional, and knowledgeable response to my very, very, leaky water heater. Your company is the one I will leave as a recommendation for the next owners of my home. I also gave your company’s name to our realtor. Thank you again for a very fast response and a professionally finished job.
Kathy W.Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, CA
This note is both an apology and a thank you. I am so sorry I was late getting to my home to meet your plumber, but even after Miguel waited 45 minutes for me he was helpful, friendly, and very professional. I am appreciative for his good plumbing, excellent customer service and representation of your company. I will always use you for my plumbing and I will refer you too!!
Laura F.Poway, CA
Your plumber was the most polite, professional and the most knowledgeable and experienced plumber that has ever been to my house!
Matt R.Poway, CA
Your plumbers are very professional and courteous and your company always does what it says it will do. I will be recommending you to all of my neighbors. Thank you.
John L.Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, CA
Your plumber really took the time to dig in and find the problem that other plumbers couldn’t find. From now on, I’ll be using Twin Plumbing Poway for my home and for all my restaurants.
Julia M.Poway, CA
Scott was wonderful. He went out of his way to be nice and to take care of all my problems. He was so conscientious and careful but he still worked very quickly and moved from one problem to the next very efficiently. I don’t usually call companies to give compliments but he really was very good. By the time he left, I felt like we were good friends. If I ever need plumbing work again, I will definitely call and ask you to send Scott again.
